Apparently the Audi Q3 is scheduled to premiere at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show in April. Earlier, it was reported that the Q3 will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
According to 4wheelsnews, sources confirmed that the production of the Audi Q3 is slated to commence this year.
Meanwhile, a Q3 for the U.S. is yet to be confirmed. Reportedly, Audi remains to be convinced of the viability of a Q3 launch in the U.S. though certain dealers maintain that the vehicle will have impressive sales to an extent.
The Audi Q3 is expected to be equipped with three different powertrain options. They include a 170 PS 2.0-liter TFSI with a 6-speed manual gearbox; a 211 PS 2.0-liter TFSI with an S Tronic transmission and a 170 PS 2.0-liter TDI diesel with an S Tronic transmission. CO2 emissions of these engines are touted to be 172 gr/km, 184 gr/km and 158 gr/km respectively. More engine options are expected to be available for the Q3.
As for the design, the Q3 will likely share similarities to the Audi Q5. Further, Audi is to retain the Q3nomenclature though there was a small tiff between the company and Infiniti over the designation in 2008.
Incidentally, Audi will put together the forthcoming Q3 at Volkswagen Group member Seat’s Martorell plant in Spain.-nitrobahn.com
