Bentley has released a special edition version of their Continental Supersports convertible at the Geneva Auto Showto honor the breaking of the world Ice Speed Record. Two weeks ago, Juha Kankkunen set a top speed of just over 205 miles per hour while driving across the frozen Baltic Sea, breaking his own record set in 2007 by almost six miles per hour.
The new edition of the car, like the standard model, runs off gasoline, biofuel, or a mixture of the two, and claims to reduce CO2 emissions by 70%. The all-wheel drive convertible features Bentley’s most powerful engine to date – a 6 litre, twin turbo-charged W12 capable of producing 631 bhp / 471 kW and 590lb ft of torque. The six-speed automatic transmission can propel the limited edition car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, 50 to 75 mph in 2.5 seconds, or 0 to 100 mph in less than 10 seconds.

Although a racing vehicle in terms of performance, the car comes equipped with quite a few luxury features, including an 8 inch touch-screen infotainment system with a built-in 30 gigabyte hard drive, and a unique red weave interior design not available for the standard model.
Only 100 of Bentley’s Continental Supersports convertible will be manufactured in Crewe, England. The special edition convertible is available in three colors – Beluga, Quartzite and Arctica White. The price for the standard convertible is upwards of $270,000, which indicates that the price of the Ice Speed Record special edition is best stated as, “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.”-earthtechling.com
