Geneva Auto Show: Infiniti Etherea Hybrid

Infiniti, perhaps looking to find a way to worm its way into the hearts of younger buyers, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show the Etherea concept entry-level luxury sedan. This hybrid hatchback design is described as a project focused upon an “evolving Infiniti identity.”
The Etherea concept sports what Infiniti says is a supercharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, developing 245 horsepower and married to an electric motor that offers emission-free driving at low speeds and a boost of power to the primary engine when needed. The vehicle sports transmission that is a continuously variable (CVT) type, as well as an independent suspension, regenerative braking and advanced drive-by-wire electric/hydraulic steering.

Infiniti, which is Nissan’s luxury brand, puts the front wheel drive Etherea concept at just over 14 feet in length. It is said to be the coming together of several vehicles styles, including “part elegant coupe, part spacious sedan, part practical hatchback and even part tall crossover.” It includes four wide-opening doors, rear-hinged at the back, and an absence of B-pillar.
Also of note in regards to the hybrid system, according to Infiniti, is that it is based around the innovative one electric motor/twin clutch system used in the new Infiniti M Hybrid.-earthtechling.com
