This is one car that has had the auto blogging hemisphere on the tenterhooks for quite some time with wild pictures, spyshots and photshopped images scattered all across the inter-web. Finally, the Big H has pulled the wraps off the 2012 Honda Civic at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show. For folks still besotted over the radical and racy lines of the existing Honda Civic, the 2012 Honda Civic might be more than just deflating as the car is nowhere as radical as it was originally envisaged to be.
The 2012 Honda Civic now looks more like the elder brother of the All New Honda City and this isn’t something that would go very well with Civic enthusiasts as the Civic’s uniqueness seems compromised. On the other hand, the neo-conservative approach might just strike a chord with middle aged folks in India, most of whom would any day prefer classy understatement to brash and edgy looks. All said, the designers at Honda have managed to add in a modicum of muscularity to the Civic, and this makes the Civic look all grown up.
And this is the ninth generation model which means that the engine and tranny options might see a change for the better, with both performance and fuel efficiency getting a fillip, and that obviously can’t be bad thing, can it? So far, there has been no confirmation from Honda regarding the 2012 Honda Civic’s engine options and even the interiors for that matter. So, an Indian launch in the near future is not very likely as the 2012 Civic is scheduled to hit American shores only later this year. In a nutshell, the 9th Generation 2012 Honda Civic smacks of evolution rather than revolution and we leave it to you to decide whether that necessarily is a good thing or not.-indiancarsbikes.in
