Ahead of the Detroit Auto show, Hyundai released a teaser video of the much rumored Velosterthrough its YouTube channel. With this it is confirmed that the new vehicle will have the official debut at the Detroit Auto show. The new Hyundai Veloster will have a direct-injected engine and a dual-clutch transmission.
As reported by caranddriver, it is expected that the new Veloster will feature a sporty-ish small coupe in the vein of the Scion tC. It is also expected that the new vehicle will have the Japanese automaker’s corporate grille along with a blend of the designs that are seen on the new Sonata and Elantra.
The company confirmed that the new entrant will have a front-wheel-drive hatchback. The Japanese automaker also added that Veloster will be positioned below the Genesis coupe in Hyundai’s lineup.
Under the hoods, the new car will have a 1.6-liter, direct-injected engine, which is capable of up to 40 mpg. The 1.6-liter engine is expected to generate a power of between 135–140 hp. Hyundai said the transmission choices will consist of either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual. The company noted that the transmission is being designed by its engineers and will be the first of its kind for the company.
The Hyundai Veloster is expected to go on sale in summer of 2011. So, await the official debut of Veloster in Detroit in the month ahead.-nitrobahn.com
