New Citroen DS5 Comes At Geneva Motor Show 2011

Citroen DS5 will be the third arrived in French premium range. The new model will have a “amazing” design, say the Citroen officials.
After released on the market DS3 and is preparing to announce new DS4, Citroen will bring at the Paris Motor Show 2010, which will take place in autumn, the concept that will foreshadow the third member of its premium line. It’s DS5 model, which is scheduled for release in the series version in 2011.
According to French newspaper, Le Pays, which published in premiere this information, the series version of DS5 will be presented at Geneva Motor Show, in March 2011. Until then, after the official presentation of the concept of the same name, Citroen will assemble a series of preproduction units, which will be tested by Citroen engineers starting from December this year.
New Citroen DS5 will be a crossover between a wagon, a van and a medium sedan, as its design will be completely new one for the current auto industry. One of the directors of the PSA, Jean-Philippe Jombart, argues that new DS5, which has already been before the Board of Directors of the company, is “a passionate shock” and the CA members are “amazed” by the new model.-mibz.

Volvo V60 sports wagon confirmed for Australia in Q1 2011

Volvo has previewed its all new Volvo V60 sports wagon ahead of the 2010 Paris Motor Show in September, boasting coupe-inspired styling, interior versatility and trademark safety features.
Volvo Cars President and CEO, Stephen Odell, said the V60 was designed for the S60 customer who wants extra space and flexibility without compromising sporting design and dynamic driving characteristics.
With the 40/20/40 split-fold rear seats in place, the V60 has a rear capacity of 430 litres, but V60 head of interior design, Jonathan Disley, said volume was just one measure of practicality.
“Load-carrying ability is not just about volume. It is equally about the load space’s shape and flexibility. We have worked hard to free-up load-carrying area and to provide capacity that truly makes a difference to the car owner. We have created the extra centimetres you need to bring with you those items that give life that added spice,” Mr Disley said.
A number of storage compartments have been scattered throughout the interior designed for everything from books and maps to bottles and cans.
Under the bonnet, four petrol engines and three diesels will give European customers a full range to choose from.
The new 1.6-litre GTDi petrol is available in both T3 (112kW/240Nm) and T4 (134kW/240Nm) tunes, and the overboost function adds an extra 30Nm in short bursts. The T3 comes with a six-speed manual transmission only, while the T4 has the option of a six-speed PowerShift automatic. The 2.0-litre 179kW/320Nm T5 will join the line-up later in the first year of production.
The 3.0-litre inline-six T6 has been boosted to 227kW and an impressive 440Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h sprint takes 6.6 seconds yet fuel consumption is down 20 percent to 10.2 litres/100km. The T6 is teamed with Volvo’s second-generation six-speed automatic Geartronic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
The top-of-the-line diesel engine is the 2.4-litre five-cylinder D5, which produces 153kW and 420Nm. Two different sized turbochargers complement each other across the rev range and lead to spirited performance and low fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/100km combined.
The 122kW/400Nm 2.0-litre D3 will sit beneath the D5, and both will be available with manual and automatic gearboxes.
The 86kW/270Nm 1.6-litre DRIVe diesel engine will also be added to the V60 range during the first year of production, promising the best economy and emissions ratings of all the engines offered.
Volvo will equip the V60 with an advanced stability control program and Corner Traction Control for smoother cornering. Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake, Rollover Protection System and City Safety – which includes Driver Alert Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System and active Xenon lights – add to a long list of safety features.
Passenger comfort is taken care of with a new five or seven inch central “infotainment” display screen and 12-speaker Dolby Digital surround sound.
Volvo says the initial annual target for the V60 is 50,000 vehicles, of which 90 percent will go to European buyers. It anticipates the five largest markets will be Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and Germany.
The 2010 Volvo V60 will be built at the Torslanda plant in Sweden, with deliveries to begin in the coming months.
Volvo Car Australia’s Laurissa Mirabelli said the V60 will arrive in Australia next year but the range specifics still needed to be worked out.
“We haven’t finalised specifications nor have we finalised engine variants for this particular model because we’re not introducing it until the first quarter of next year, and even then it will be towards the end of the first quarter. There are still a lot of things that are up in the air,” Ms Mirabelli said.
She confirmed that the V60 would slot in between the V50 and the V70 wagon rather than replace one of them, as she said history had shown the importance of choice to Volvo customers.
“Part of the reason behind that is that when we introduced the XC60 we thought that it would probably eat into some of the XC90’s market share but what it actually did was it brought a new kind of customer to the Volvo dealership who perhaps hadn’t considered Volvo previously.
“When they turned around and looked at their three kids and at the XC60 compared with the XC90 they went: ‘Well, maybe we need to supersize it’.
“So people come in based on the V60 but then realise that perhaps the V50 which is slightly smaller or the V70 which is more your load-carrying wagon is more suited to their needs. That’s what we’ve found in the past and what we’re hoping to replicate with this one,” she said.-caradvice.

Hyundai Veloster sports coupe spy shots

Hyundai is set to unveil an affordable front-wheel drive sportscar next year, currently labelled Veloster (although the name will more than likely change to something with an ‘i’ infront of it) the upcoming 2+2 Sports coupe was snapped testing in production form.

Dubbed the Scirocco from Korea, the Hyundai Veloster is set to take on the new Honda CRZ in terms of sportiness and will also compete with similar small sports cars in the segment.
Sources say the Veloster will initially be powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder (Hyundai’s Theta II GDI engine) that can produce around 100-125 kW. There is also potential for Hyundai to put a more powerful engine (140-150kW) for a top variant. Reports suggest the model may potentially make use of a twin-clutch automatic gearbox.
The more interesting rumour about the Veloster though is a unique feature in its body style. Some suggest the Veloster may have the same treatment as the Mini Clubman, having a rear-hinged small extra door on one side. Having a quick look at the photos, there is some merit to the rumour with the driver door being ever so slightly longer than the passenger door on the right side. This suggests that there may be a smaller rear door on that side.
The Veloster is expected to be unveiled next year. Hyundai Australia are tightlipped about future models.-caradvice.

2011 Smart Fortwo Preview

The Smart brand has enjoyed modest success in the U.S. since its launch here back in 2007 but with a lack of any new models or updates, the oddly-designed minicar brand has fallen largely off the radar of late. That’s all about to change as a facelifted 2011 Smart Fortwo has just been revealed ahead of its debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show in September.
The car should arrive in the U.S. shortly after, complete with a fresh interior look, an upgraded exterior and even more environmentally friendly engines. The range of colors available for the exterior have been expanded and are complemented by new LED daytime running lights, new alloy wheel designs and more customization options.
Inside, there are new trim options and a revised dashboard, as well as a new communication and entertainment system integrating navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX ports and an interface for controlling an iPod. There’s even an optional surround sound system for the tiny urban runabout.
The Smart Fortwo’s engine lineup has also been updated, with all powerplants now working more efficiently than ever before. The cdi turbodiesel is rated at 54 horsepower, while the mhd gasoline model comes in with 60 horsepower and the regular gasoline model with 83 horsepower.
U.S. specifications and details should be announced closer to launch, later this year.-greencarreports.2011 Smart Fortwo

Renault DeZir Concept For Paris Motor Show

Renault DeZir Concept For Paris Motor Show renault dezir concept 1
This is Renault’s latest concept car, called DeZir, which of course is an electric vehicle. But it’s an important car because according to Renault, it hints at their new design language for future models. And apparently Renault Design department has hired a bunch of teenage girls, because it’s all very romantic!
“DeZir is a statement of our new formal design language which conveys notions such as movement, sensuality and emotion through ideal proportions, in much the same way as an object whose forms have been honed by nature. The result is a warm, stimulating design that says ‘Renault’,” explains Axel Breun, Renault’s Director of Concept Car and Show Car Design.
The interior design also suggests lightness. “Love is a sentiment that lifts you; gives you wings,” says Stéphane Maïore, who was in charge of DeZir’s interior styling. “Inside DeZir, you feel like you’re floating on a cloud,” adds Stéphanie Petit, Colours and Materials Designer.
The DeZir is 4.2 meters ling and has the profile of a compact coupe. The most significant features of its styling, apart form the all-new front-end which Renault says will be used in upcoming models, are its gullwing doors and 21-inch rims. They’re amazing, but rest assured neither of these things will make it into production models!
The letter Z in the car’s name refers to the fact that it’s a Zero Emission electric vehicle. It’s powered by an electric motor mounted in a mid-rear position to optimise weight distribution over the front and rear wheels. Backed by vertically-mounted 24kWh lithium-ion battery, it generates 110 kW of power and 226Nm of torque, while giving a range of around 100 miles per charge.
Speaking of charging, a standard charge using a conventional household plug takes up to eight hours. But a 400V three-phase current you can do a fast recharge and get 80 percent of the battery’s capacity filled in just 20 minutes.
Renault DeZir Concept will make its public debut at 2010 Paris Motor Show.-motorward.
