Spy Shots: Facelifted 2012 Nissan GT-R

Look closely and use a bit of imagination and it's obvious that Nissan is upgrading the GT-R's front and rear fascias for the 2012 model year.

The changes are slight, but they deserve noting. Particularly the new rear bumper, integrated diffuser and sharper flares aft of the rear wheels. The front grille has been revised with a more horizontal opening than the previous model and with camo covering the side intakes, it's obvious that the bumper is going to be benefit from a slight restyling.
Our spies caught both a standard GT-R and its SpecV sibling at the Nurburgring, so it appears that these changes will carry over to both models. Expect an official reveal sometime this fall.

Spy Shots: next-gen Aveo RS unmasked

We first saw the concept Chevrolet Aveo RS at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show and have since caught the next-gen Aveo in action, but that was in its heavily disguised form. Now we got our hands on this new image of the upcoming Aveo RS, cleverly Photoshopped by the folks over at Aveo Forum. In it's unmasked form, the Aveo RS looks significantly sportier than any other Aveo on the road today.

This latest image clearly shows that the Aveo stayed as true to its concept form as can be expected. The sharply tapered nose, sporty front fascia and some enhanced angular body lines help to differentiate the RS from your run-of-the-mill Aveo. In addition, the interior pics that we've posted before clearly show that the RS is not your average Aveo. Does this "Euro hot hatch" have the goods to stand up against econobox competitors like the new Ford Fiesta or Honda Fit? We'll have to wait for some seat time before posting our verdict, but the RS is bound to be Chevy's best Aveo yet.

Spyshots: 2011 Ford Mondeo Facelift

2011 Mondeo facelift spyshots2011 Ford Mondeo facelift spyshotsSo far, we can see the facelifted version of the Mondeo will have a number of noticeable styling changes, including a new grill and a unique design of fog lamps and daylight driving lights.

Unlike what the first set of spyshots showed, we can also tell there will be a couple of enhancements brought to the rear side of the car, though the lamp housings are still covered. Furthermore, there is also the possibility of integrated LED lights for the rear.

The interiors will likely be the same as on the current model, although Ford might adjust the trim levels and equipment, so a bunch of new features might become available.
As for the engine configurations, the facelifted Ford Mondeo may also come available with the brand's 2.0-litre EcoBoost gasoline/petrol engine with 203 hp that is now featured in the Galaxy model.

However, the carmaker will also make available a line of diesels, including Ford's 2.0-litre TDCi engine tweaked to either 115, 140 or 163 hp.

The American carmaker also announced recently a mid-lifecycle technical enhancement for the Mondeo, with the sedan receiving the company’s Ecoboost turbocharged petrol engine, updated version of the Duratorq TDCI diesel units as well as the Powershift dual-clutch six speed transmission.
The 2011 Ford Mondeo facelift is expected to debut later this year, and we are putting our money on the Paris Auto Show this September.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Turbo

2011 Hyundai Sonata

2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T
We've known since the 2010 New York Auto Show that the turbocharged 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T would score an estimated 22/34 mpg city/highway from its 274-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. And now we know it'll get to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds.
The information, revealed by Hyundai to Motor Authority in Korea today, puts the Sonata a full second behind the much pricier, 300-horsepower turbocharged inline six-cylinder BMW 335i sedan, but right on par with the manual-transmission BMW 328i sedan and 0.4 seconds ahead of the automatic 328i. Not bad considering the Sonata Turbo is only available with an automatic transmission--and is likely to start at least $5,000 cheaper than the 328i.2011 Hyundai Sonata
