Images of the new M Sport package for the redesigned 2012 BMW 1-Series Hatchback have already surfaced online, though not yet officially from BMW, but latest spy shots reveal that the automaker looks to be expanding its M Sport package by targeting the aftermarket business.
New features seen on this prototype reveal a racing stripe package running the length of the car, as well as blacked out headlights and grille, and special badging.
However, it could just be the latest version of BMW’s Performance Edition kit launched for the existing 335i and 135i models. You’ll recall it also featured a blacked out grille.
There's little in the way of other details for the new 1-Series M Sport package, though as with past versions, we expect the exterior tweaks to come with interior badging, equipment and upholstery choices, and possibly a tweaked, sportier suspension setup.
New pieces should include a BMW M shifter, M steering wheel and M footrest. Carbon fiber trim is also likely to be available.
And, despite the 1-Series Hatchback remaining out of U.S. reach--for now, at least--there's every chance the look here could be duplicated on the re-designed U.S.-spec 1-Series Coupe and Convertible when they make their debut next year.-motorauthority.com
