Pagani Huayra: $1.6 Million Supercar Debuts In Geneva

We had seen pictures and read technical details about the Pagani Huayra. But the red paint on the Geneva Motor Show car was a surprise to some.
The long-awaited unveiling of the Pagani Huayra, the successor to Pagani Automobili SpA’s seminal supercar, the Zonda, took place today today at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Italian car maker had released pictures and specifications of the 700-horsepower two-seater, but this is its first appearance before the general automotive press. The company also says it will sell the car through dealers in the U.S, which is big news for wealthy speed junkies here. Perhaps the biggest news was that the company showed a Huayra in red — a departure from the conservative titanium hue of the car shown previously in photos (which was also on display).
The Huayra is named after Huayra Tata, an ancient God of the wind, and has a six-liter, 12-cylinder engine with two turbochargers built by Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance unit. The power plant is expected to propel the car from zero to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.3 seconds — slightly slower than the Lamborghini Aventador unveiled Monday.
Like exchange rates and the global economy, the Huyara’s estimated price fluctuates. While the company hasn’t released the price, estimates are hanging around one million pounds sterling, or about $1.6 million.-blogs.wsj.com
