Suzuki has released a computer generated teaser image of the Suzuki Swift S-Concept ahead of its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1.
The Swift S-Concept is expected to preview the upcoming Suzuki Swift Sport, a vehicle that Suzuki has so far refused to talk about, despite the launch of the 2011 Suzuki Swift range in Australia earlier this week.
Suzuki has offered little detail about the S-Concept, other than admitting it has been developed to be a “stylish sport compact with premium performance”.
The concept’s design is not an enormous deviation from the standard Swift (probably a good sign for those keen for the release of a new Swift Sport production version), but it does gain a revised grille and air intakes, roof spoiler and flared wheel arches.
The current Swift Sport (still on sale alongside the new 2011 hatch range) is one of the only true sports cars available for under $25,000. It is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with 92kW and 148Nm of torque (22kW/18Nm more than the standard Swift).
Whether the new model will be powered by a retuned version of the 1.6-litre, a higher-performance variant of the standard Swift’s 1.4-litre, or a different powerplant entirely remains to be seen.
Suzuki says it will reveal more details at the S-Concept’s unveiling in Switzerland at the beginning of March, and we will bring you all the news as it comes to hand.-caradvice.com.au
