Renault chose to hold the GCC unveiling of the all-new 2011 Renault Safrane at the 2010 Riyadh Motor Show. As we had been speculating for ages, the new model is a simple rebadge of the car that debuted earlier this year in Europe as the Renault Latitude and in Korea as the Nissan-Samsung SM5.
Renault considers the last iteration of the Safrane to be a success, apparently selling 2624 units in the GCC. Considering Toyota moves that many Prados every three months, that is chump change, but it is obvious that the Safrane is the most visible Renault model on the streets of the UAE and it was good enough to enter our recommended list. Heck, even we bought one.
Though details on GCC specifications still seem to be scarce, announced options will include an air purifying Samsung Super Plasma ioniser, Arkamys or Bose sound system and a 240 hp 3.5-litre V6 alongside a smaller engine, as well as stability control, tyre pressure monitor and bi-xenon cornering headlights, though the navigation system likely won’t make it here.
The new Renault Safrane will be available in Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Middle East countries by January 2011.-drivearabia.com
