We’re not sure exactly what this is but our spy photographers have told us it is a small Mazda SUV of some kind, even a prototype of a possible Mazda CX-5.
It’s a bit smaller than the current CX-7, almost like a chopped Mazda3 hatch with wider guards and an all-wheel drive system.
The chassis of the car is said to match that of the Mazda3′s as well.
Regardless of whether it will be called the Mazda CX-5, or even the CX-3, reports say it will be powered by the Mazda Sky-G and Sky-D engines.
Judging by the wheel arch gaps, it doesn’t appear to be a very keen off-road car, rather, more of a soft-roader.
Either way, it was seen in northern Europe undergoing some thorough winter testing, presumably to hone the car’s all-wheel drive system.
Reports say it is expected to be unveiled some time in late 2011.-caradvice.com.au
