Lincoln, Ford’s oft-forgotten luxury division, displayed their latest models at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Motor Show at the Ford stand itself. While the focus is on the MKX this year, Lincoln also quietly launched the 2011 MKT crossover in the GCC, essentially a completely-redone version of the Ford Flex.
First shown in the UAE at last year’s Dubai Motor Show as a 2010 model, the MKT is Lincoln’s full-size luxury crossover with three rows of seating and tons of space. Larger than the MKX midsize crossover and more efficient than the Navigator, the MKT will be offered in the UAE with the turbocharged 3.5-litre “EcoBoost” V6 engine, delivering 355 hp at 5700 rpm and 474 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive.
Offered in either 6-seater or 7-seater configurations, a second-row 60/40 split folding bench seat, optional power “fold and tumble” second-row bucket seats include heating, cooling and power lumbar adjustment, and an available 5-quart refrigerator in the centre console. A fixed-glass panoramic roof with power-assisted front and rear sunshades is standard and an opening panoramic sunroof is optional.
Base price in the UAE comes in at Dhs 195,000, and availability will likely be limited.-drivearabia.com
