Subaru's Forester S-Edition concept, unveiled here at the 2010 Sydney Auto Show, offers "some strong clues pointing to a new variant next year" — for the Australia market. A Subaru of America spokesman told Inside Line there are "no plans" to offer a similar model in the U.S., at least not just yet.
The Forester S-Edition is more potent than the Forester XT on which it's based. The concept's turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-4 engine — based on the company's third-generation boxer engine family — makes 259 horsepower and 256 pound-feet of torque, compared with 224 hp and 226 lb-ft for the Forester XT.
The Forester S-Edition also features a five-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, revised sport suspension, all-wheel drive with variable torque distribution, 17-inch STI alloy wheels, drilled alloy pedals, Alcantara seat trim and S-Edition logos and badging.-insideline.com
