After unveiling the 2011 Kia Optima EX at the New York Auto Show in April last year, Kia Motors America has finally decided to start selling the car from October this year at a base price of $22,100.
Mated with a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2.4-liter, direct-injected four-cylinder engine of the car will produce 200 hp at 6,300 rpm and 186 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm sufficient enough to take the front wheel drive five-passenger four-door sedan to 60 mph from rest in just 8.2 seconds. The engine is the same that you may find driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. But, unlike the Sonata, here you may discover less noise, as the new Kia’s direct-injection system does not produce noticeable under-hood clatter.
The 2011 Kia Optima EX has been tested to give a fuel efficiency of 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. With smooth shift feel, you will find the car’s gear spacing just adequate to make your driving experience a comfortable one. Peter Schreyer’s design provides ample space-comfort to its five passengers with its 57.3-inch roof line and 72.1-inch wider breadth that comes from the 2011 Hyundai Sonata chassis.
With a 15.4 cubic feet trunk area, you may find the rear seats of the 2011 Kia Optima EX less than comfortable. However, outside of these minor irritants, the new car will attract potential customers with innovative new-generation features that include paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, larger wheel base, panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated seats for front and rear seats, direct injected engine, Bluetooth hands-free, USB input and iPod jack etc.-nitrobahn.
