Hot on the heels of its 75th anniversary Platinum Concept, Jaguar has taken the wraps off an armoured version of its XJ luxury saloon.
Said to offer up to B7 levels of ballistic protection, the XJ Sentinel uses purpose-built armouring that is designed to be almost impossible to detect from outside the car.
This includes high strength steels with Kevlar backing, an armoured inner cell and under floor grenade protection.
The car is based on the long wheelbase XJ and powered by a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine, while its ride and handling have been adapted to cope with the extra weight of the armour.
As part of the XJ Sentinel package offered by Jaguar, customers get a dedicated security consultant to assist with choosing the car's final specification, as well as driver training and on-site servicing when required. In addition, the car can be serviced at any Jaguar dealer and comes complete with a full three-year, 50,000-mile warranty.
Mike O'Driscoll, Managing Director, Jaguar Cars, said: "The XJ Sentinel is the ultimate armoured luxury limousine. It offers governments, security organisations and private individuals the highest level of security, with advanced design, refined performance and a beautifully-crafted cabin".
The Sentinel will make its debut at the Moscow International Motor Show, which runs from August 25-29.-telegraph.
