Spyshots: 2011 BMW 6 Series Cabrio

 BMW 6 Series Cabrio spyshots
BMW’s flagship drop top will keep the current soft top solution, refusing to use a ever more popular popular retractable hardtop layout. The German carmaker might have chosen this pathway in order to offer a decent luggage space that will confirm the car’s GT status.

The overall shape of the 6 series doesn’t seem to have changed much compared to the one of the current generation of the vehicle, even though all the car’s panel have received attention from the carmaker.

Under the hood of the upcoming topless 6 Series we will find serious modifications. One of the entry-level powerplants will by the twin turbo six cylinder offering 326 hp, with the upper models expected to use the twin-turbo V8 delivering 407 hp. Customers will be able to choose between two transmissions, a DCT seven speed dual clutch and an eight speed automatic.

The oil-burning part of the range will receive the current 635d engine, as well as a tri-turbo six cylinder powerplant that lets the driver play with 354 hp. A hybrid version of the car is also in the works, with the vehicle expected to receive the 655 designation.

2012 Range Rover Evoque (Victoria Beckham joins in reveal)

The Range Rover Evoque crossover was introduced today at a party markingRange Rover's 40th anniversary. Stylistically, this compact crossover looks similar to the LRX Concept.
Hard technical details were in short supply, other than the fact that Evoque will have four-wheel drive. We still don't know what engine is under the hood or what kind of transmission it will hook up to. Most likely, it will be a small turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Land Rover is promising fuel-efficiency from the Evoque, so that explains the likelihood of the small gas engine, and a diesel will likely be available in Europe and other global markets (the Evoque will be sold in 160 countries). More firm details will have to wait until the public debut of the Evoque at the Paris Motor Show in September.

New Hyundai Coupe Coming to 2011 Detroit Show

The new car may also appear at the Paris motor show this October, but is expected to first break cover in Hyundai's home market of South Korea sometime this year. Sales of the production car are expected to begin in the U.S. in the fall of 2011 as a 2012 model.
First shown as the HND-3 Veloster Concept at the 2007 Seoul Motor Show, rumors have swirled about what to call the new coupe, which has been spied testing several times recently. We have confirmed it won't be called Veloster. While a revival of the Tiburon name has long been suggested and makes sense as the new car's mission looks to be similar, our source says a final name has not yet been decided.
The car is expected to retain much of the Veloster concept's styling, including its shooting brake greenhouse. The 2+2 will be front wheel-drive only and is expected to make use of a new direct-injected 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 140 horsepower, likely available with a manual transmission. While it's possible that Hyundai's more-powerful 2.4-liter four-cylinder or its new 2.0-liter turbo could fit under the hood, there's been no indication of such plans so far. Right now, Hyundai is said to be shooting for more than 40 mpg from the 1.6-liter engine, putting it up against the new Honda CR-Z without the aid of a hybrid system.
When the new car does finally reach the U.S. market, Hyundai already has plans to take it racing. Noting that Hyundai used to take the Tiburon rallying, our source says that the company is eyeing Rallycross and the popular X Games for the new car and could get their favorite driver, Rhys Millen, behind the wheel.
