The Range Rover Evoque crossover was introduced today at a party markingRange Rover's 40th anniversary. Stylistically, this compact crossover looks similar to the LRX Concept.
Hard technical details were in short supply, other than the fact that Evoque will have four-wheel drive. We still don't know what engine is under the hood or what kind of transmission it will hook up to. Most likely, it will be a small turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Land Rover is promising fuel-efficiency from the Evoque, so that explains the likelihood of the small gas engine, and a diesel will likely be available in Europe and other global markets (the Evoque will be sold in 160 countries). More firm details will have to wait until the public debut of the Evoque at the Paris Motor Show in September.
