SsangYong Concept XUV 1 Bound for 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show

The SsangYong Concept XUV 1 compact crossover will be unveiled in September at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Korean automaker teased the Concept XUV 1 in three images on Thursday — but the vehicle speaks more to the survival of SsangYong than any styling innovation.
India's Mahindra and Mahindra last year acquired a controlling interest in SsangYong. The Korean automaker specializes in SUVs and was forced into court-supervised receivership when it was controlled by China's Shanghai Auto.
The Concept XUV 1 is among the first fruits of SsangYong's new corporate setup. Mahindra plans to launch a diesel pickup in the U.S., but there is no word yet on whether a version of the Concept XUV 1 is in the works for North America.
No powertrain details were revealed for the Concept XUV 1.
SsangYong said the B-segment concept is designed to "look imposing without seeming to appear aggressive." Details include a wraparound windshield and a full-length glass roof. The cabin has 1+1+2 or 1+3 seating, said the Korean automaker in a statement.
All major cabin functions are controlled via mobile devices and "smart instruments," said SsangYong.-insideline.com
