Brother to the Alfa Romeo and a child to Fiat the Maserati Quattroporte will host a new look for the upcoming 64th Frankfurt International Motor Show in September this year.
The Italian car manufacturer, Maserati introduced Quattroporte (meaning: four door) four-door sporting-luxury sedan in 1963, but the latest generation was produced later in 2009 in the form of the new Quattroporte S. Under the bonnet the car roared with a 4.7l V8 engine with 430 horses and 490Nm of torque capable of reaching a flying 280kmph. The car did a standstill to 100kmph in 5.4 seconds and could finish a quarter-mile drag in 13.7 seconds.
The new Maserati Quattroporte to manke an appearence at the Frankfurt Motor Show
Maserati’s recent sales figures show 5000 units in the year 2010 which it wants to expand by 4 times with some 20,000 units on the streets. The engine will remain untouched continuing with the 4.7l V8 but some changes in the tuning can be expected to hike the fuel efficiency. The art and craft of the car will be made by an in-house designer which will speak the figures of the GrandTurismo Coupe and Cabriolet. As per last years interview of Harald J Wester (CEO, Maserati), the new generation Quattroporte will host an all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission gear box.
The new Quattroporte will fight in the market with the BMW 7series and the Mercedes S-Class. While the Quattroporte S will drills a massive hole of $1,25,000 (Rs. 1.25cr in India) in your pocket, rumors have it that the car will have the same price tag of its current model but the actual figures are yet to be announced. Maserati also looks at introducing an entry-level luxury sedan to the likes on BMW 5-series and the Mercedes-Benz E Class, but the company has given no official declaration of any such project.-zigwheels.com
