We've known since the 2010 New York Auto Show that the turbocharged 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T would score an estimated 22/34 mpg city/highway from its 274-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. And now we know it'll get to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds.
The information, revealed by Hyundai to Motor Authority in Korea today, puts the Sonata a full second behind the much pricier, 300-horsepower turbocharged inline six-cylinder BMW 335i sedan, but right on par with the manual-transmission BMW 328i sedan and 0.4 seconds ahead of the automatic 328i. Not bad considering the Sonata Turbo is only available with an automatic transmission--and is likely to start at least $5,000 cheaper than the 328i.
